Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month – February 2015

Throughout February each year, AMMF redoubles its efforts to raise the awareness of cholangiocarcinoma (CC) throughout the UK.

During February 2015, we will be awareness raising, fundraising and sharing information. Look out for:

Daily Guest Posts on AMMF’s Facebook page

AMMF’s Guest Post feature, which we have run during Awareness Month for several years now, is open to everyone whose life has been affected by cholangiocarcinoma, giving an opportunity to share experiences and thoughts, together with photos and music links.

With just one Guest Post per day, each attracts an enormous amount of attention, and many supportive comments. Personal stories are the most powerful form of awareness raising – incredibly during 2014’s Awareness Month, many of the individual stories were seen on 8,000+ newsfeeds across the world.

Make sure you visit AMMF’s Facebook home page often during February to see the inspirational Guest Posts – and please like, comment and share.

The Great AMMF “CCake Off”

During February’s Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month we’re asking all our supporters to raise awareness, fundraise for AMMF and yes … eat cake!

Absolutely anything cake related goes, and culinary skills are not necessarily required. Here’s a few fundraising ideas to get you started:

  • Bake your own or buy – and decorate imaginatively with AMMF colours and icons!
  • Bake and sell at work or school (with permission)
  • Host a fundraising coffee morning, or afternoon tea with friends and family
  • Have a ‘Guess the Weight of the Cake’ competition (donate to guess)
  • Hold a Cake Raffle

We’re sure you can think of more, but whatever you decide to do, be sure to let us know (email: info@ammf.org.uk) – and please send us your photos so we can share them throughout the month on FB!

Proceeds from any “Cake Off” event can be donated to our dedicated “Cake Off” event page on Justgiving.

You can also donate by text message straight to AMMF’s fundraising ‘Cake Off” page.  Simply text FEBS70, and an amount of £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070.

Over many years, AMMF has funded various areas of CC research at Imperial College London, most recently awarding a grant to help with the new CC biomarker repository, so we were delighted when Professor Simon Taylor-Robinson agreed to host an event for AMMF supporters there on Wednesday, 11 February 2015 (10am to 3pm).

This exclusive event, which is being arranged to coincide with our Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month, will give an opportunity to meet specialists, learn about the new CC biomarker repository, tour the labs, hear about CC research from the scientists, join a Q & A session with the experts, and more. This is a fantastic information sharing opportunity for us all.

If you would like to come along, please email info@ammf.org.uk, putting “AMMF Imperial College Event” in the subject line.

Please note, places are limited, so will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
